This year I really challenged myself to go natural with skincare and make up.
Most people think of Beauty Counter when it comes to natural beauty, but I will be honest, I have never loved loved their products, but have many friends who do. My favorite brick and mortar places to find natural skincare are Vitamin Cottage, Fig & Yarrow Apothecary (they also carry a line at Target, aka the happiest place on Earth!), Vert Beauty, and AILLEA Beauty. For make up I love again AILLEA Beauty, Vert Beauty, Alchemy Face Bar, and also, surprisingly, Sephora. Online some of my favorites are Dermstore, Jordan Samuel Skin, May Lindstrom Skin, and again Sephora. However, more and more places carry natural beauty products, so check out your local drug store, grocery store, Amazon and even Ulta Beauty.
There are some incredible products to be found, its almost a little overwhelming at first. I started following some skin care affincianatos on Instagram for guidance, and that was super helpful. I am sure there are some great YouTubers to follow as well, but I'm not much of a YouTube user. A few things I have discovered on this exploration are cleansing oils, the body brush, the wonders of a good serum (please check out Maya Chia!), hydrating spritzers/sprays, manuka honey (truly a superfood in every way), the benefits of charcoal in everything from toothpaste to facial masks and body wash, and making my own exfoliating scrubs.
Some of my favorite natural skin care products:
Jordan Samuel Skin Plie
You Skincare Clarifying Glow Serum
Maya Chia The Perfect Couple
Tatcha Harper Camellia Cleansing Oil
May Lindstrom Honey Mud
May Lindstrom The Problem Solver
Andalou Naturals rose foaming cleanser
Andalou Naturals Citrus Kombucha Cleansing Gel
Thayers Witch Hazel Toner
Shea Moisture African Black Soap Moisturizer
Fig & Yarrow Cleansing Nectar
Fig & Yarrow Complexion Water
When it comes to make up, I really would advise you to go somewhere like Vert or Aillea, or even Alchemy. Its fun to go and play with make up for one and for another they really will educate you as they go. I love Vapour Beauty products and currently I am really obsessed my Kjaer Weis foundation - which has a refillable foundation holder. Next on my list of items to replace in the make up category are mascara (weep! good by Mabeline!), primer, and eye shadow/liner.
What are some of your favs?
